Lennie Tristano was one of the leading personalities in modern jazz. He strictly chosed not to commercialize. To teach his tricky melodies and polyrhythmic structures he founded his own school in 1951 with students like Lee Konitz and Warne Marsh, who later became big names in jazz history.
